Research Webinar: The MILK Study

In case you missed the March Army of Women Research Results Webinar, the video broadcast is now available!

We are excited to provide an opportunity to virtually meet Dr. Kathleen Arcaro. Dr. Arcaro and her team are conducting the Milk Study studying the breast cells normally found in breast milk to see if there are any differences between women whose breast biopsies turn out to be healthy and those whose biopsies show a problem, such as cancer and the Army of Women is playing an important role in helping the research team recruit the women they need.

Now, Dr. Arcaro wants to give back to the Army of Women by sharing some of the preliminary study results. In the webinar, Dr. Love and Dr. Arcaro discuss the study and its results as well as answer your questions.

I was able to attend the Webinar yesterday and enjoyed the presentation. The data are intriguing that the methyl “Post-Its’ that cap DNA and control its expression might go awry and be detectable in lactation milk. I look forward to the ‘broccoli’ study to see if the known DNA methylation effects of this vegetable can be seen in human samples.

It also showed once again the power of the Army of Women in patient recruitment in clinical research. The effect of this organizations recruiting ability will only grow as its membership grows- much like the multiplying value of a social media like Facebook increases exponentially as its membership grows.

Thanks and I look forward to more research updates.
